The Bronxville High School girls varsity track and field relay team had outstanding performances at the historic Penn Relays, held at the University of Pennsylvania on April 27. The competition brings together high school teams from all over the country.
Members of the 4x400-meter relay, Eve Balseiro, Caroline Brashear, Laura Holland and Kaitlin Ryan, finished second with a time of 3:56.82, setting a new Bronxville School record. The previous school record was set by Kirsten Ircha, Caroline Kirby, Holland and Ryan in 2015 with a time of 3:56.84. The 4x400-meter relay is currently ranked first in the state for Division 2 schools.
Holland and Ryan also competed as members of the 4x800-meter race along with Patty Haggerty and Sydney Coddington. Their team ran their best times of the season and finished in sixth place with a time of 9:25.58, ranking first in the state for Division 2 schools. In addition, Ryan’s time, 2:08.58, was the fastest of the 280 girls from 64 teams who had qualified for the race.
Members of the 4x100-meter relay, Alisa Kanganis, Sophie Kohlhoff, Sabrina Mellinghoff and Margot Richards also had their best time of the season at the Penn Relays, with a time of 51.20. They earned second place and are currently ranked second in the state for Division 2 schools.
