Outstanding State Championship Achievements for Broncos

The girls’ varsity lacrosse team had an outstanding season as they advanced to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association State Championship Game for the first time in Bronco history. The team finished as a state runner-up when they lost to Skaneateles in double overtime in the final game on June 10.

Members of the girls and boys track and field teams also had outstanding achievements at the state championships. Boys’ track and field team member Alex Rizzo placed second in the 800-meter run with a personal best time. He also placed seventh in the steeplechase. Girls’ track and field team member Kaitlin Ryan became a state champion in the 800-meter run, while Margot Richards finished sixth in the 100-meter race.

Members of the 4x400-meter relay, Eve Balseiro, Caroline Brashear, Laura Holland and Kaitlin Ryan, set a state record and became state champions for Division 2 schools. They also competed as members of the 4x800-meter race and became state champions. Members of the 4x100-meter relay, Alisa Kanganis, Sophie Kohlhoff, Sabrina Mellinghoff and Margot Richards set a new Bronxville School record and placed fourth in the state.

All the girls relay track runners and Rizzo received All-State honors.
