Student-Artists Display Work at Prestigious Gallery

Three Bronxville High School students – Lauren Lee, Maggie Miller and Vance Wood – have their artwork on display at the prestigious OSilas Gallery at Concordia College StArt Regional High School Art Exhibit through Jan. 17.

The annual exhibit showcases the work of talented high school students from 30 regional public and private schools across Westchester, Fairfield, Rockland and Orange counties and the Bronx. Judges, ranging from artists to professors and curators, critiqued the students’ work and presented Miller with an Award of Excellence during the opening reception on Jan. 6.

Lee, a sophomore, presented her colored pencil drawing “A little while longer;” Miller, a junior, showcased her colored pencil artwork “Evidence of identity;” and Wood, a sophomore, displayed her chalk pastel “Self-reflection.”

“It's so important for students to share their artwork with the greater community as it adds value to their work,” art teacher Courtney Alan said. “Their artwork is evidence of the creative learning that takes place at Bronxville High School and allows them to demonstrate their unique perspectives alongside their peers.”

The OSilas Gallery is located in the Donald A. Krenz Academic Center on the second level of Scheele Memorial Library. StArt 2017 is sponsored by The Heart of Neiman Marcus, which supports organizations that bring enriching arts experiences to youth.
