Bronxville Union Free School District

Technology Moves Forward

At the December Board of Education meeting Dr. Mara Koetke, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, gave an overview of the District's technology initiative. Since last January the schools have upgraded infrastructure, increased student access, and expanded classroom applications.  Using survey data, she described increases in technology-enriched assignments, research, and multimedia presentations. She attributed these trends to the widespread use of Google Apps for Education, training forty teachers, and the acquisition of 403 Chromebooks and laptops, sponsored by the Bronxville School Foundation.

Koetke also presented examples of innovative student projects, along with teacher commentary. As part of this initiative Koetke also led several focus groups with students, teachers, and parents.  Parent surveys highlighted some concerns with the use of the parent portal, and Koetke noted plans for additional training, support, and communication with parents.
