Bronxville High School students have earned outstanding recognition in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest running and most prestigious program honoring creative teens. This year, five Bronxville students were recognized at the regional level for excellence in both visual art and creative writing.

Senior Emma Yeon was twice named an American Voices Nominee for her poem, The Craters, and her personal essay and memoir, The Unicorn. She earned Gold Keys for both works and also received a Silver Key for her poem, The Proof.

Senior Katherine Fezza received an Honorable Mention in the Digital Painting, Drawing and Collage category for her work, Ignorance is Bliss. Created as a digital drawing in Procreate on an iPad, the piece showcases her technical precision and strong artistic voice.

Sophomore Elizabeth Pressly earned a Gold Key in the Drawing category for her colored pencil work, Colors of the Spine, and an Honorable Mention for her chalk pastel drawing, Ama’s Garden.

Freshman Madeleine Borducci earned a Gold Key for her short story, The Aftermath.

Freshman Cathy Kuang earned multiple honors, including a Gold Key for her short story, Manfred’s Dream, a Silver Key for her novel, Ventose, a Gold Key for her comic art, Before the Fire Started (Part No. 2), and an Honorable Mention for Before the Fire Started (Part No. 1).

Student submissions were evaluated by panels of professional novelists, editors, teachers, poets, journalists, and artists for originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice and vision. This year, 2,586 literary works and more than 7,500 art pieces were submitted regionally, making recognition a significant accomplishment.

Several students developed their writing through Bronxville’s Creative Writing Clubs, and visual art submissions were completed in courses including Art II and AP Art and Design. As Gold Key

recipients, students’ work will advance to national judging in New York City, where it will be considered for National Medal honors.

The Bronxville School District congratulates these talented students for their dedication, creativity, and artistic excellence, and celebrates the vibrant arts community at Bronxville High School.
