Bronxville Students Engage in Global Civil Discourse on Artificial Intelligence

A group of people, likely students, are seated around a table in a classroom setting, engaged in what appears to be a collaborative discussion or project work.

Bronxville High School students recently participated in a unique civil discourse session that connected them with peers from around the world for a thoughtful conversation on artificial intelligence. Approximately 20 students volunteered to take part in the experience, which brought together high schoolers from countries including China, Peru, and Nigeria.

After a brief introduction, students quickly moved into a structured discussion focused on artificial intelligence and its growing role in society. Bronxville students listened to and exchanged ideas with their international peers, exploring the opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations surrounding AI from a range of cultural and global perspectives. The session was designed to deepen students’ skills in civil discourse by emphasizing respectful dialogue, active listening, and openness to multiple points of view. Rather than trying to persuade or “win” an argument, students were encouraged to ask questions, consider different experiences, and reflect on how complex issues like AI can be viewed through many lenses.

Through this experience, participants strengthened their ability to engage in meaningful, informed conversations about contemporary issues while building greater global awareness. The event reflects Bronxville High School’s continued commitment to helping students develop as thoughtful, empathetic communicators who are prepared to navigate a diverse and interconnected world.
