Eighth Grader Anderson Vermette Ranks 11th in Nation

Bronxville Middle School eighth grader Anderson Vermette – a member of Bronxville’s swim team – recently placed 11th in the Junior World Championships Trials in Coral Springs, Florida. 

The prestigious event brought together the nation’s top junior athletes, with the top 20 divers in each age group competing against each other. Vermette advanced to the finals, earned a medal and finished 11th overall in the country. 
 
“Anderson’s success is a direct result of his dedication and grit,” Athletics Director Anthony Vaglica said. “Ranking 11th in the nation and consistently qualifying for the AAU USA diving team is no small feat. We are beyond proud of his achievements both in the pool and the classroom. He truly embodies the Bronxville Promise.”

In addition to his strong showing at the national level, Vermette was selected for the fourth time to represent the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and USA Diving team. The team consists of a select group of elite divers who compete internationally against other top divers around the world. This year, Vermette will travel to Rome where he and his teammates will represent the United States in the international competition.
