New Initiative Builds School Spirit Across District

Members of Bronxville High School’s varsity teams greeted elementary school students as they arrived at school as part of a new initiative designed to strengthen school spirit and foster connections across the district. 

The program, introduced in the fall by the Athletic Council and led by teachers Patsy Manganelli and Seamus Coons, brings student-athletes to the canopy during a designated week each season to welcome younger students at the start of the day. 

“It has been a fantastic way for our older students to promote their sports and upcoming games, while giving our youngest future Broncos a chance to interact with student leaders they look up to,” Athletic Director Anthony Vaglica said. “The energy has been incredible.” 

The program has created meaningful opportunities for the younger students to interact with high school athletes. The program’s impact has extended beyond athletics. 

“It’s about building a sense of belonging and community,” Vaglica said. “Seeing our varsity athletes mentor and inspire our elementary students at the canopy each morning reminds us that every Bronco, no matter their age, is part of one team. It’s been a joy to see our athletes take on this leadership role and ignite that ‘Bronco Pride’ in the next generation.”
