Special Education & Section 504
Welcome from the Director of Pupil Personnel Services
Hello and welcome to the Special Education section of The Bronxville School website. I'm Christine Dowd, and I proudly serve as your Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
For over 20 years, The Bronxville School District has held a special place in my heart. Prior to becoming the Director of Pupil Personnel Services, I had the privilege of serving as a Special Education Teacher, Special Education Curriculum Leader, CPSE Chairperson, and Assistant Director of Special Education. I worked alongside an incredibly dedicated team of professionals in these roles. My journey in education has been deeply rewarding, and I'm honored to continue my service and growth here, partnering with our outstanding teachers, school psychologists, counselors, related service providers, and staff to support our students.
My dedication to special education is not just professional; it's personal. As both an educator and a parent, I truly understand how important it is for us to be genuine partners in this journey. It's paramount that families of students with special needs know they are supported here at Bronxville School. Student advocacy is at the heart of my life's work, and my guiding principle is to ensure that all students experience joy, connection, learning, and excellence.
The Special Education Department is a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals who work to identify, assess, and provide necessary services to students with disabilities. Aligned with The Bronxville Promise, we strive to create a supportive learning environment and to offer programs and services that are inclusive for all students.
This section of the website is designed to be a comprehensive resource for you. Please explore the information provided, and know that our team is here to support your child's success. Additionally, you'll find information below on the Bronxville Organization of Learning Differences (BOLD), where the PTA and I collaborate with families, community members, professionals, and experts in the field to meet the diverse needs of our students. I look forward to partnering with you!
Sincerely,
Christine Dowd
