Dear Bronxville High School Students & Parents,
Educational planning is an important activity for all young adults and their families. The Bronxville High School Course Catalog has been prepared for you by the faculty, the Counseling Department, and the Administration of Bronxville High School to assist you in your future academic planning.
This handbook, coupled with the assistance of our professional staff, is designed to facilitate the process of selecting courses and planning your high school years. The courses offered by each department, along with information about graduation requirements, and other important aspects of our high school are described here.
Counselor assignments are based on students’ last names. This structure helps to provide consistent, individual attention for students and families over the four-year high school period. Counselors remain with their assigned students from freshman year through graduation. Please take advantage of their expertise.
Prerequisites are meant to guide students in making appropriate choices about courses in which they will be successful. When students ‘waive’ into courses for which they have not met the prerequisite(s), the likelihood of success is diminished. It is important to note that our master schedule is based directly upon the course requests made by our students. Therefore, if students need to move to a different course and/or move to a different level within a subject area, the master schedule may not accommodate a smooth switch. Please use the prerequisites as a guide to course selection decisions, speak with your current teacher in the subject area as well as your guidance counselor to determine the most appropriate course selections.
We wish you the best in your educational and career planning for the years ahead. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
