2020-2021 Course Catalog
Dear Bronxville High School Students and Parents,
When we return from December Break, Guidance Counselors will begin to meet with students to choose courses for the 2020-2021 school year. They will start with the current Junior class. Please note that the 2020-2021 Course Catalog is now available on the high school website under ‘Students’ and a link for it is here. The processes outlined below will help students to make appropriate course selections for next year.
Grade Level Meetings
Each grade level will have a meeting with Guidance Counselors and Curriculum Leaders. The purpose of the meeting is to review the courses available to students in a particular grade for the following year. At the meeting, course expectations for advanced courses, such as APs, will be discussed. Students will hear about electives as well. The presentation that is given to students will be shared with parents following the meeting. The meeting for the current Junior class will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 9:15 AM in the Auditorium.
Online Course Registration
Prior to the student/parent meeting with your Guidance Counselor, you will go onto the Portal and choose the courses you would like to request. You will see on the screen where course requests are made and any recommendations from current teachers, based upon your performance in their class up to this point. Your meeting with Guidance will clarify your requests but you should go online to make requests prior to the meeting. Online course requests will open on January 9, 2020 for all students.
Time Management and Course Load
Once again, we recommend students (and parents) utilize the time management sheet to make appropriate choices in terms of course selection as it relates to the homework load of courses. Students should take the opportunity to fill out the worksheet prior to their meeting with Guidance. The departmental homework expectations by course are summarized here.
If you have any questions about these updates to the scheduling process, please contact your Guidance Counselor. We hope that this letter is helpful as you begin to plan your courses for the 2020-2021 school year.
Have a safe and restful break. We will see you in 2020!
