Twenty members of Bronxville High School’s Model United Nations club showcased their debate and diplomacy skills at the prestigious Princeton Model United Nations Conference, held at Princeton University from Nov. 21-24. They joined approximately 1,000 high school students and represented Bronxville with distinction.
Stepping into the roles of United Nations ambassadors from various countries, the students engaged in high-level discussions on global issues, forming alliances, drafting resolutions and passionately advocating for their assigned countries’ positions. They discussed topics in the General Assembly committees, such as ECOFIN (Economic and Finance committee), SOCHUM (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural committee) and DISEC (Disarmament and International Security committee). Others immersed themselves in the Crisis Committees, where they navigated complex historical scenarios as the basis for debate.
“The students put a lot of work into preparing for the conference and learned more about debate, compromise and collaboration during the event,” club adviser and teacher Martin Patmos said.
The following students had an outstanding performance at the conference: sophomore Sean Ahn, senior Claire Berkeley, sophomore Rishaan Brianch, senior Ariana Cutler, senior Alex Dallendorfer, sophomore Emerson Dennis, junior Iris Donovan, sophomore Charlotte Dorr, senior Nora Eddib, sophomore Grey Gaston, junior Travis Hamerling, senior Sophia Ikiri, sophomore Mustafa Khizar, junior Hannah Lescott, junior Serena Lescott, senior Kiran Madhavan, sophomore Xavier Reilly, senior Zoe Sandilya, junior Margaret Stein and senior Paris Zhang.
