Bronxville High School Students Shine at Prestigious Model UN Conference
Bronxville, NY

A group of 16 talented students from Bronxville High School’s Model United Nations Club had an outstanding performance at the prestigious Columbia Secondary School MUN conference in New York City on April 5. Representing their school with distinction, the students engaged in thoughtful debate, strategic collaboration and real-world problem-solving alongside peers from leading schools across the region, earning several awards.

The fast-paced conference challenged participants across six committees, including General Assembly, such as ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) and DISEC (Disarmament and International Security), as well as Crisis Committees focused on the 1993 Russian transition under Boris Yeltsin and Japanese elections. Over the course of three sessions throughout the day, the Bronxville students worked towards resolving complex global issues, crafted policy resolutions and worked on getting them passed.

Congratulations to the following students who earned awards:

•    Reese Beldotti, a sophomore, earned honorable mention on Constitutional Crisis 1993.
•    Charlotte Dorr, a sophomore, earned honorable mention on Constitutional Crisis 1993.
•    Thomas Fonseca, a freshman, earned honorable mention on DISEC: Election Integrity and Democracy.
•    Athina Lekovic, a freshman, earned an Outstanding Delegate on DISEC: Election Integrity and Democracy.

“The winning students were each able to advance their plan through collaboration with other students, bringing together divergent viewpoints through speech and debate,” club adviser Martin Patmos said. “Each of these students, as well as many of the others, spoke with passion and knowledge on their issue, demonstrating creative thinking and problem-solving, as well as the ability to build bridges with other competing ideas.”

In addition to the award recipients, the following students made valuable contributions and represented Bronxville with distinction: Rishaan Brainch, Simona Danzer, Emerson Dennis, Iris Donovan, Julia Everett, Grey Gaston, Luciana Kohtio, Agnes Olwell, Mustafa Khizar, Xavier Reilly, Caroline Ryan and Vaughn Young.
