Bronxville Elementary School kindergartners learned about fire safety thanks to a special educational visit from the Eastchester Fire Department on Oct. 17. The firefighters provided valuable lessons on fire safety, emphasizing what the students should do during an emergency and the importance of having working fire alarms in their homes.
The young students got a look at the firefighters’ rescue gear, uniforms and specialized tools, helping them feel more comfortable with the equipment. The visit tied into the kindergartners’ social studies unit, where they learned about the roles and responsibilities of various community members. They also reflected on how these roles connect to their own classroom responsibilities as students, fostering a great sense of teamwork and accountability.
