Bronxville Middle School eighth graders have been developing their coding skills in computer science teacher Nicole Ricci’s classes. Equipped with Micro:bit technology, the tech-savvy students created codes and algorithms to run a Finch Robot.
“Their project is an expression of themselves, creating an algorithm that directs the robot to draw out the individual’s name, as well as aspects that represent each student and what they would want to highlight about themselves,” Ricci said.
Ricci said the task demanded not just code, but a blend of mathematics and meticulous planning. The experience has also encouraged the students to explore, create and highlight who they are.
