Bronxville Middle School students recently engaged in powerful lessons on sustainability through the generous support of the PTA Sustainability Committee.

More than 200 students and parents gathered at The Picture House in Bronxville to watch the “Kiss the Ground” documentary on Jan. 30. They viewed a 45-minute version of the full-length movie, which is about a movement to regenerate our planet. After the film, student members of the MS Green Team presented action steps their peers can take in their daily lives to make a positive impact.

Later in the week, representatives from the Greenburgh Nature Center visited the middle school to further provide lessons on waste and how students can take steps at school and home to properly reduce, reuse and recycle. The engaging presentation included student participation and examples using the cafeteria’s three-bin recycling system: compost, recycle and trash.

Special thanks to Principal Joe Mercora and the middle school science teachers for supporting the efforts and showing students how they can make a difference in their community.
