Seniors Obtain College Advice From Alumni
Bronxville, NY

Four Bronxville High School alumni – Andrew Babyak (Class of 2018), Will Cioffi (Class of  2017), Griffin Garbarini (Class of 2018) and Alex Swenson (Class of 2018) – spoke to members of the senior class during a panel discussion, held on Dec. 20 at the auditorium.

During the discussion, the graduates discussed their daily schedules and experiences with transitioning to college life, as well as the responsibilities of attending college classes and how they differ from their high school classes. They also gave the seniors advice about getting to know their professors, attending office hours and establishing positive relationships.

“The graduates shared that getting involved in activities on campus is a great way to get to know other students, as well as become a part of the community and establish leadership opportunities,” said Director of Counseling Anne Abbatecola, who organized the panel discussion.

In conclusion, the panelists answered questions from the seniors and provided them with valuable information and insight into the college experience. Babyak is a freshman at the University of Michigan, Cioffi is a sophomore at Lehigh University, Garbarini is a freshman at Santa Clara University and Swenson is a freshman at Northeastern University.

“The panel presentation proved informative and enlightening for the seniors and for staff in attendance as we assist seniors in their preparation for college,” Abbatecola said. “We added the panel this year and plan to continue it in the future due to the valuable and positive exchange of information we noted.”

In conjunction with the panel discussion, the Bronxville High School Counseling Department hosted its annual reception for alumni on Dec. 20.
