Photo Collage of Students Trick or Treating In The Schools
Bronxville, NY

Members of Bronxville High School’s Autism Awareness Club hosted a trick-or-treat experience for elementary and middle school students in special classes on Oct. 29. Dressed in their Halloween costumes, they walked down the hallways and collected candy from classrooms and offices throughout the district.

“My students were absolutely thrilled with the day,” faculty adviser David Russert said. “They spoke about opening the door to building relationships. It was the next step in the process of working with our younger special class students. We emphasized our choice of words, that we are doing things ‘with’ students, not ‘for’ students, and the mindset makes a world of difference.”
