Dressed as their favorite fairy tale characters, third graders celebrated the beginning of their fairy tale writing unit, Once Upon a Time, with a tea party. They watched and read a variety of fairy tales while sipping on tea and enjoying cookies before delving into their studies.
“We hope from this experience that the students are excited for this writing unit and beginning to generate ideas to help them write both adaptations and their own individual fairy tales,” third grade teacher Meghan Chiapperino said.
The fairy tale characters who attended the tea party included Captain Hook, the Gingerbread Man, Harry Potter, the Little Mermaid and Maleficent, among others. As a culmination to their studies, the students will publish their own fairy tale pieces.
